You have an attachment to comedy. Or you wouldn’t be here.
Let us ask you something. When you grew up was there a moment you recall when you saw a Canadian show or a Canadian on any show, or movie, or live performance and said “hey this is really good? This is really funny?” Did you ever think that as Canadians “we really do own comedy.”
Do you recall ever having to tell someone that Mike Myers or Jim Carey or Russell Peters or Schitt’s Creek or SCTV was Canadian? Ever been on vacation and had to correct someone on these facts?
Who has who made you laugh? Really laugh. John Candy, Mike Myers, Jim Carey, Catherine O’Hara, Russell Peters?
Well, we believe that it is time for us to pat ourselves on the back while tipping the hat to those who paved the way. We want to revive the CCHOF that started way back in 2000- 2001 and inducted:
John Candy Wayne & Shuster
Don Harron Dave Broadfoot
Rich Little The Royal Canadian Air Farce
Why?
Good Question.
- Recognition for great Canadian Comedy and a tip of the hat to those who paved the way.
- Preservation of the materials digital and physical
- Access to materials digital and physical
- Education and exhibits
As Canadians we all know what’s funny. This is your chance to get involved, have your say. Sure, there are added perks, discounts and privileges but the point is, you will cast a vote to determine who gets into the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame!
The year-long subscription includes:
- Voting on the inductees
- Early access and special discounts to CCHOF shows, exhibits and merchandise
- Monthly Newsletter
- Access to rare digital materials
From preserving archives, scholarship initiatives and yearly induction ceremonies to developing new comedy movies, the CCHOF has big plans. Including an eventual permanent home to remember the laughs and the people who made them.
